Mini Pastry Pies are probably one of the most breezy and quick desserts to feed the party crowd. My kid enjoys making these pastry pies very often with me. Its a easy peasy snack according to my 5 years old. So he rolls up his sleeve to make these treats whenever his friends come for a play date.
I always have frozen puff pastry in my freezer as its handy to make a lot of recipes with this sheet. Its buttery, flaky crisp and convenient.
- Kids birthday parties you can make this ahead of time. See the notes.
- Kids snack box
- These are better than store-bought Pop-tarts as these are without that icing on top.
How to make Mini pastry pies using Puff Pastry sheets
One sheet of puff pastry makes 12 pies. A Puff Pastry Packet comes with 2 sheets that yields us total 24 mini pies.
Start by rolling out pastry puff sheets then cut each sheet into 3 equal strips.
Take one strip and cut into 8 rectangles. So for one sheet you get 24 rectangles. 12 pieces will be the bottoms of the pastry pies, and 12 will be the tops.
The fun part begins now, layer the filling with half spoon of your favorite jam or baking chocolate and close with one of the rectangle tops.
Make patterns on the edges with a fork to seal the filling and make a small slit on the top of the pie(this prevents the bursting of the filling.).
